Who we are
Welcome to the farm! I’m Ryan Boettcher, I’m a first generation farmer trying my best to combine old school farming practices and knowledge with modern technology and genetics. I grew up in Lansing with absolutely no background in agriculture at all, but by the grace of God I met many wonderful people who became great friends and mentors in this journey while giving me a leg up in this industry.
I have worked on several different farms from conventional commercial cow dairy and commercial row crop (corn and soybean) farms, to a smaller scale regenerative pasture based farm raising pork lamb beef and chickens and another family herdshare dairy. I worked for a few years with a soil sampling company learning all things agronomy and soil health both on the commercial chemical fertilizer side and on the smaller holistic intensive grazing side of things. I try to combine the strengths and knowledge of both conventional commercial farming and regenerative pasture based farming with the intention of building healthier soils, healthier animals, and healthier foods for my customers. In a world being radically divided in all areas my passion is to help close the gap between farmers and consumers and shine light on the areas that need work in the ag industry while dispelling any erroneous myths against farmers and their practices as well. The more I learn about this industry, the more I realize I don’t know. So please, follow along and let’s learn from each other!
Professional Manure Hauler
Meet our truly most valuable player, my mother, Lynn! She does it all from picking up meat orders, tagging along on all the long road trips to pick up or deliver animals, loading pigs, and most often hauling out loads of manure from our pig pens to help fertilize our fields. She is always here to help. Often she gets roped in to helping on the more nasty jobs but always does it with a smile and enjoys anything involving machinery. She’s meticulous at bookkeeping and often helps me catch up after falling behind on receipts. Our farm truly wouldn’t be running if it weren’t for all her incredible help. If you happen to see her on the farm be sure to thank her for all she does!
